Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada provides immigrants with services to help them prepare for life in Canada before and when they arrive. Settlement Online Pre-Arrival is a free service funded by IRCC that helps immigrants by providing orientation, employment counselling, cultural training for the workplace, and other services.
Immigrants will meet online with a counsellor for an orientation meeting. This will help to prepare an immigrant and their family for employment and resettlement in a province in Canada. The plans are customized for immigrants.
Sessions with a counsellor include:
-
One-on-one meeting
-
Needs Assessment
-
Action plan
-
Settlement resources
-
Referral to course program
-
Referral to other employment services
-
Referral to regulatory bodies, if applicable
-
Referral to other settlement services
Certain immigration programs in Canada may require the settlement plan and Needs Assessment before arriving in Canada, such as AIP. Settlement plans are completed by an organization approved by IRCC.
Settlement services provided by IRCC for free help immigrants succeed while working and resettling in Canada.
