Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada is set to achieve its goal of 401,000 new permanent residents in Canada for 2021.
From January through May, IRCC was processing 7,000 to 10,000 Express Entry candidates per month. In June, that number almost doubled. By October, almost 314,000 immigrants had become permanent residents. In much of the latter half of the year, IRCC was welcoming over 45,000 residents per month.
In December, IRCC has 1.8 million candidates for permanent and temporary residence. It has said it wants to cut its Express Entry candidates currently waiting for processing in half before processing more CEC and FSWP candidates.
IRCC should handle more Express Entry candidates in the first part of 2022.
